Description:
The first in a two-part series by Bear Family Records dedicated to the legendary Starday label Starday Records was founded in June 1953 in Beaumont, Texas. Initially intended to be a pure country label, it evolved into a rockabilly label in the mid-1950s. The label released many talents in that field as well. This album contains some of the best songs left on the Starday label, as well as many unknown and energetic rockabilly killers. Starday also made records from tapes sent in by amateur artists, and the recordings are taken from such sources. A compilation of some of the hottest and rarest rock, including gems from Buddy Shaw, Larry Nolen, Hal Payne, Arnold Parker & the Southern Hares, Lew Walker, and more!
