A rare collection of melodramas by Schubert, Schumann, and Liszt! SALAMANDRE, a label specializing in music with readings, presents a new collection of melodramas by Schubert, Schumann, and Liszt. Melodrama, a form of reading with music over dialogue, became popular in the 18th century and was even used by Beethoven in the dungeon scene of "Fidelio". In addition to dramatic works, many works with piano accompaniment were also composed. Today, however, even the works of major composers are seldom neglected. This CD contains melodramas by Liszt, Schumann, and Schubert. This is probably the first time that melodramas by major composers have been compiled in such a comprehensive CD. The intertwining of theatrical recitations and music, which is different from the case of songs, is very interesting. Incidentally, Liszt's "The Faithfulness of King Hergé" is an arrangement of the ballad of the same name by Felix Dräszke (1835-1913). The reading is basically in French. Only Schubert's "Farewell from the World" is included in French and German. Vincent Figury is a French musician and poet, who has consistently read for the SALAMANDRE label.And on this CD, the famous French pianist Pascal Amoyel (not Amoyel) gives us a wonderful performance. Pascal Amoyel is a pianist born in 1971 in Rose-en-Brie, Seine-et-Marne, France. He has been active for over 30 years since then. Although he has made many recordings, there has probably never been a CD of Schubert, Schumann, and Liszt by Amoyel. In Japan, Pascal Amoyel is widely known as "Pascal Amoyel," but Amoyel is pronounced "Amoyel" in French, and he himself calls himself as such. Tobu Shoji Co.
