The Hermes Quartet debuts with three masterful French quartets by the Hermes Quartet, Schumann's String Quartets (LDV 17). Now they are back with their latest release in 2018, steering us toward three masterpieces by French composers. Ravel's String Quartet is an important work that they have been working on since the day they formed the quartet. It is also the piece that both Ravel and Dutilleux grabbed the first prize in the competition. Debussy is also the piece they have featured most often in recent concerts, so this is a program that is full of promise. The Hermes Quartet tours regularly in the United States, as well as in Europe and internationally. The four members of the quartet also studied with Eberhard Feltz in Berlin and continue to study regularly with Alfredo Brendel as of 2018. In 2011, they won the first prize at the Geneva International Competition, and in 2012 they also won the first prize at the New York Young Concert Artists International Auditions.Due to traffic problems behind the Theatre Bibbiena, the recording took place every night from 11:00 pm to 4-5:00 am.
