After leaving Light of Saba, Cedric Brooks released a legendary album under his solo name on Sonia Pottinger's High Note label in the late 70's. This miraculous reissue is only available to a select few reggae collectors. Only a few reggae collectors know about this album, and it is priced at 100,000 yen even among overseas collectors. Cedric 'Im' Brooks has participated in numerous sessions as a saxophone player at the prestigious Studio One. Cedric 'Im' Brooks has played saxophone on numerous sessions with the famed Studio One, and was the musical conductor of the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, led by Count Ossie of Nyabinghi. He then formed Light of Saba and established the ultimate "third world music" that combines reggae, Nyahbinghi, and African music. This album, "ONE ESSENCE," was released in the late 70's under Cedric's solo name after he left Light of Saba, and was produced by Sonia Pottinger and recorded at the famed Treasure Isle. The album features a beautiful African-rooted Nyahbinghi tune in the style of Light of Saba, and an instrumental cover of Bob Marley's classic "Small Axe," which is sure to move even the most discerning reggae fan.The album also features mellow spiritual jazz reminiscent of Cedric's later spiritual jazz masterpiece "UNITED AFRICA," as well as killer Jamaican rare groove numbers that have received rave reviews from core funk/rare groove DJs around the world. Cedric Brooks sadly passed away in May 2013. It is a pity that Cedric Brooks passed away in May 2013, as he had been battling an illness for a long time and many fans had been hoping for his return. We can only hope that this album will bring the lost masterpiece of the great saxophonist born in Jamaica to the ears of many people. The reissue we have dreamed of for so many years has finally come to fruition. The world premiere reissue of a reggae instrumental treasure that will never be lost.
