The Benevitz Quartet, winners of the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition & Festa, record Haydn! The Benevitz Quartet attracted attention with their album (SU-4326) focusing on Czech and Slovak composers who were active during World War II. Their long-awaited new recording is Haydn. This album contains three pieces: "Recitative" from Haydn's Op. 17 (1771), which he wrote at the age of 40; "Joke" from the "Russian Quartet" Op. 33 (1781), which was dedicated to Tsar Paul I (Grand Duke Pavel Petrovitsch of Russia); and No. 57 Op. 54-2 ( No. 57, Op. 54-2 (1788). The quartet depicts the development of musicality in Haydn's string quartets. The Benevits Quartet was founded in 1998 at the Prague Conservatory. They studied with R. Schmidt at the Queen Sofia University of Music, and in 2004 received the Czech Chamber Music Society Prize from the Czech Philharmonic. In the same year, the quartet made it to the finals of the ARD Munich International Competition, where it won the Theodore Rogler Foundation Scholarship and the Bärenreiter Original Version Award.In 2008, he won the first prize at the 8th Paolo Borciani International Quartet Competition in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
