A 14-CD box set of recordings by the pioneering "OISORYL," an ensemble that contributed to the revival of medieval works. This 14-CD box set contains the complete catalog of the London Medieval Ensemble recorded by Oiseleyre and released as part of the "Florilegium Series" between 1980 and 1985. 14-CD box set. Limited edition. Ouazorille originally started in Paris in 1932 as the record division of a publishing house, but later became part of Decca. It boasts the world's highest standards in the performance of original instruments based on the latest research on source texts, instrumentation, and performance styles. The London Medieval Ensemble was founded in 1974 by brothers Peter and Timothy Davies with the aim of reviving medieval works. The ensemble performs works by masters such as Dufay and Okeghem as well as lesser-known composers. It was the obvious successor to David Munroe in the field of "old music."Many of the pioneering recordings of medieval and Renaissance works in this set won various awards, including the prestigious Record Academy Award, and were critically acclaimed. In particular, the unprecedented length of Dufay's complete secular music, released on a six-LP set, has been hugely influential to this day. In original jacket.
