Includes the premiere of a highly acclaimed work by one of the most popular composers & conductors of our time Thomas Adès, one of the most acclaimed and most performed composers of our time, performed the world premiere of his own concerto for piano and orchestra with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Kirill Gerstein in March 2019. Commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra for Kirill Gerstein, the work has already become part of the world concerto repertoire. The live recording of the piano concerto, which has received an enthusiastic response from audiences and critics alike and has become a generous tribute to contemporary music, is coupled with Adès's 2013 work, The Dance of Death. The Dance of Death features baritone Mark Stone, mezzo-soprano Christiane Stotin, and orchestra. The dialogue between the creepy Grim Reaper and the many victims in the procession unfolds.
