Seeling, Hans (1828-1862)

Description:

Oblivious Composer Hans SeelinComposer Hans Seelin (1828-1862), a native of Prague, Czech Republic, was a composer of gems that illuminate a corner of the chromatic school of piano music. A superb pianist, he was active in the salons and concert halls of 19th century Europe. However, little is known about Seelink's life today, and there are few opportunities to experience his performances and recordings. From the etudes and boating songs on this album, one can hear the influence of Chopin, the great Polish composer, in Zoellink's music. It also recalls the technical sounds of his contemporaries, such as Schumann, Moscheles, and Henselt. However, in addition to the technical aspects of the piece, the melodies of Seelink's music are also captivating. In particular, the five works based on "Reed Songs" by Rainau, a popular poet of the time, are all familiar works with melodies that stick in your head. The last piece on the disc, "Memories of an Artist," was composed by Seelink while he was on his deathbed, according to a friend. As shown on the cover of this disc, Seelink had been in Venice for some time. However, he was stricken with pneumonia and returned to his hometown of Prague, where he passed away at the young age of 34.Consisting of ten pieces, the last two pieces, "Funeral March" and "Apotheoses," are hardly titled, but they are a fascinating group of pieces that take the listener on a journey through his life. Performed by Swiss pianist Karl-Andreas Corey. He brilliantly illuminates Seelink's works, which illuminate a corner of Romantic piano music. King International
