This collection features two collections of songs by Nicholas White, a British-born composer with a long career in the United States. Songs of Innocence" and "The Great Crow" are based on famous poems by William Blake (1757-1827) and Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), respectively. White uses modern-sounding music that emulates old music, and with four singers and a piano sextet, he makes each of the poems sound like a chamber opera.
