Description:
The Brazilian instrumental music "choro" originated in the 19th century and has attracted the attention of jazz musicians such as Anat Cohen and Snarky Puppy. This is the second album by a UK unit that performs choro. The lively and complex melodies, famous shorro syncopations, counterpoint, and subtle modulations are performed one after another in a sophisticated and enjoyable performance that is as good as the authentic Brazilian music. In addition to the traditional composition of flute, clarinet, cavaquinho, 7-string guitar, and pandeiro, there are also pieces with alto flute, piccolo, and bass clarinet, as well as guest participation by Roee Ben Sira on piano and Vitor Gonçalves on accordion, making the album a richly varied and enjoyable experience. The album is rich in variety and enjoyment. It is a real pleasure to hear this kind of authentic Brazilian choro work, which is not often released on CD in Brazil.
