Description:

First SACD hybridization! Analog masters were created from digital masters and converted to DSD after the latest mastering. The immortal masterpiece "Japanese Songs" by the golden duo Küchl + Mestre, long-awaited re-release on SACD hybrid disc (latest remastering in 2019)! Rainer Küchl and Xavier de Mestre sing the beautiful Japanese melodies that remain in our hearts with deep emotion. Küchl, who was the first concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic at the time of recording, chose Mestre, the principal harpist of the Philharmonic, as his duo partner instead of a pianist. Küchl gave us a clear direction for the recording of Japanese songs, saying, "Harp accompaniment is better than piano accompaniment in order to capture the delicate, fresh, and rich lyricism inherent in Japanese songs. The arrangement is by Kosuke Onozaki, a master arranger who has created many deeply lyrical works. Both Küchl and Mestre approached the recording with great trust and strong empathy for Onozaki's arrangements. The recording engineer is Michael Kornwhistle, who is well known for his work with the Vienna Musikverein String Quartet and other works by Küchl. Once again, the rich reverberations of the interior of the Schotten Abbey in Vienna bring to life the infinitely beautiful Japanese melodies. This time, the digital sound source was newly converted to analog at King Sekiguchidai Studio, and DSD data was created based on the sound source through careful mastering. As a result, Küchl's violin sounds more lustrous, and Mestre's harp has a finer and clearer grain. King International
