This is the fifth collection of the Rolling Stones' epic recording project. The fifth volume in this series, which has been presenting all the recordings in chronological order from the pre-debut period, begins with the recording at RCA Studios in Hollywood, USA, on November 2, 1964. In the U.S., the Stones achieved success in recording at the hallowed Chess Studios in Chicago. RCA Studios, where they entered with Jack Nitsche, Phil Spector's one hand man, was even more compatible with the Stones, and they completed "Heart of Stone," "Pain in My Heart," etc. On November 8, they also recorded at Chess Studios, "Mercy Mercy," " Time Is On My Side" (guitar intro version) were also recorded at Chess Studios on November 8. After the new year, in January 1965, Jagger & Richards finally completed "The Last Time" at RCA Studios. This became the first original Jagger & Richards song to reach No. 1 in the U.K. and No. 9 in the U.S., and the Stones were finally on their way to worldwide success.
