The Yardbirds

Description:

Rare live broadcast recordings from the Jeff Beck era, including a rare live performance from J. Page's bass playing days! The Yardbirds, the legendary British beat band that produced three of rock's greatest guitarists, E. Clapton, J. Beck, and J. Page. Following the well-received "The Jimmy Page Years," comes the long-awaited collection of live recordings from the Jeff Beck era. When J. Beck joined the band in place of Eric Clapton, the Yardbirds had a string of hits, including "For Your Love," "Heartache," and "Shapes of Things. The band's super guitarist, who could manipulate tricky phrases, set them apart from the average prettiest pop band. This CD contains many live takes of J. Beck's charms that cannot be contained in a studio recording. SHINDIG" and "HULLABALLOO" on U.S. TV and BBC. The album also includes a number of rare live performances, such as "SHINDIG" and "HULLABALLOO," as well as a few shows when Jimmy Page joined the band as a bass player. The first one is "Heartache" from 1965, when the band's popularity was first ignited on US TV's "Shindig! The guitar solo is almost the same as the single version, but the chalking points are clearly different from the official version, and you can see Beck's originality. The band performed "The Train Kept A-Rollin'" and the anti-war song "Shapes Of Things" at the popular vote winner's concert hosted by the British music magazine NME, along with The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, and others. Rarely heard is a live version of "Questa Volta" in Italian at the San Remo Festival, where Beck joined the band for a live performance. This "Questa Volta" is a song that Beck was obliged to record as an assignment for the festival, but he skipped recording it. He did attend the festival, but he did a rough job of adding a rock-inspired Beck-esque guitar twist to the song.A rare live performance (tracks 9-11) from the period when Jimmy Page played bass for only one week at the Proven Rock festival in France, including "The Train Kept A-Rollin'", where Page's front-loaded bass playing is fresh!
