This unique album combines Rodrigo's masterpiece "Aranjuez Concerto" and the symphony by Arriaga, a composer who died young. Joaquin Clerici is the soloist in "Aranjuez," known for the nostalgic beauty of its second movement. Aliaga, nicknamed the "Mozart of Spain," was a genius who died just before the age of 20 due to illness, although he had shown great promise for the future. The two pieces on this album are both fine works with a fresh and happy atmosphere, especially the symphony in which the minor and major keys intersect with each other in brilliant strokes. The Hispania Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Asensio, gives a flowing and pleasant performance. Naxos Japan
