Hits & Rarities" by Percy Sledge, the ballad soul singer best known for "When A Man Loves A Woman". This is a collection of rare and unreleased material, including self-recorded covers of "Warm And Tender Love" and "It Tears Me Up", covers of classic songs by Otis Redding, Arthur Conley, and others, and songs from "Percy! This is a collection of rare and previously unreleased recordings, including covers of classic songs by artists such as Arthur Conley and others, and songs from "Percy! Percy Sledge was born in Alabama in 1941 and played in a group called The Esquirers in the 1960s. In 1966, he released his debut song "When a Man Loves a Woman" on the Atlantic label, which reached No. 1 on both the pop and R&B charts. In the late 1960s, he made a string of hits on the R&B charts, but in the 1970s, he had no more hits. 1974, he moved to Capricorn and released "I'll Be Your Everything," which became his first hit in five years.In 1983, he released his first album "Percy!" on the Monument label, followed by "Love Songs" in 1985. In 1991, Michael Bolton covered the song and it became a theme song for a movie. In 1994, he was a guest on Carla Olson's album "Reap The Whirlwind". Died in 2015.
