Maximo Park, a rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, whose last album reached #2 in the UK and was their highest charting album to date, has completed a new album. Maximo Park has announced the release of their eighth album, "Stream Of Life," on Lower Third. In creating "Stream Of Life," Maximo Park, like his previous album "Nature Always Wins" (a pandemic-era tour de force that was released in 2021 and reached #2 on the UK charts), has teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective), as well as another producer, Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Julia Jacklin, Sports Team). This is the first time since 2016 that they have all been in the studio together to produce an album. The album finds the band in perhaps their most introspective state to date. Lead singer Paul Smith took the album title from a short story by Ukrainian-born Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector. And it raises the question of why people do what they do, even if it seems counterintuitive from the outside.Every individual has an inner stream of life. We have always tried to document the world around us at each stage of our lives, each time subtly moving the music forward. This album continues that mission. We recorded remotely last time, but it was great to be back in the studio again. Working with Ben in Atlanta and Burke the biker was as exciting as ever, and I think we were able to capture that energy. Thematically, it deals with passion, politics, and privilege," Paul says of the album.
