Description:

Nils Petter Molvaer is the lone trumpeter leading the future jazz scene in Scandinavia. He has shown the way forward for future jazz with his distinctive sound that fuses innovative trumpet and dynamic electronic soundscapes, and now he has completed his latest work "STITCHES" with his own quartet! A double analog LP with one additional bonus track will be released at the same time! Nils Petter Molvaar is a lone trumpeter leading the future jazz scene in Scandinavia. He has released albums on ECM as a member of his own band, Mascarello, and Oslo 13, and has garnered attention for his sampling-heavy, ambient-tinged sound, which has won him a Norwegian Grammy Award and a German Record Critics Award, as well as a Future Jazz Award, He has won a Norwegian Grammy Award and a German Record Critics Award, and is a pioneer of future jazz and new jazz with a strong presence on the scene.A trumpeter, composer, and experienced bandleader, he has worked with some of the best musicians around, including recent collaborations with Sly & Robbie and Mino Sinnell, to combine their skills and create new soundscapes. The album "STITCHES" is the result of the synergy and improvisation of these four musicians, and the fluidity that comes naturally to them, The album was mixed by Molvaer and Jon Marius Aareskjold at Kysten Studio in Tromsø. All of the songs on the album were written by Molver. The album ranges from the poetic and tender "Median" to the dramatic "A Sudden Rash" and three very powerful excerpts from "Frameworks," Morbea's composition for the 2021 Kongsberg Jazz Festival, The fragility of the trumpet is at the center of every movement, while expressing the unique musical language of a trumpeter who is always innovative. The album ends with a heartwarming cover version of Radiohead's "True Love Waits," which leaves a lingering sensation that is both somewhat hopeful and prophetic. Powerful, atmospheric, colorful, broad, and deeply emotional, STITCHES offers both listener and creator a sense of purification and renewal, a kind of catharsis. Nils Petter Molver has always shown the way forward for future jazz with his characteristic blend of innovative trumpet and dynamic electronic soundscapes. With his latest work, STITCHES, he proves once again that jazz not only has a future, but that that future is bright and exciting.
