Description:
German choral music maestro Bernius and the Stuttgart Chamber Choir commemorate the 150th anniversary of Schoenberg's birth with an early unaccompanied choral work, "Peace on Earth (Poem: Conrad Ferdinand Meyer)". This is a short, moving masterpiece in which the precisely crafted individual voices are woven together to create a beautifully resonant sound. The final repetition of "Peace, peace on earth! (Fried auf erden)" is sung in high spirits with a prayer. The album also includes 11 choral arrangements of vocal works by R. Strauss and Mahler by Clytus Gottwald, who is known for his arrangements for multi-part chorus. This is the second recording of Schoenberg's works by Bernius for the CARUS label, following "The Purified Night" (CARUS 83198 #4009350 831988).
