A collection of works by one of Spain's greatest composers, Manuel de Falla, 145 years after his birth and 75 years after his death, and performed by Warner's leading Spanish and other performers. Includes some of Falla's own compositionsManuel de Falla is considered the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century; he lived in Paris from 1907 to 1914 and was a composer of Debussy, Ravel, Dukas, Stravinsky, Florent Schmidt and Albéniz, After his return to Madrid in 1949, he composed elaborate ballet music, colorful orchestral works, bold vocal works, and sophisticated piano works, such as "Night in a Spanish Garden," "Love is a Magician," and "The Triangular Hat," which successfully combined Spanish nationalism and impressionism. In 1921 he moved to Granada, where he composed "The Puppet Show of Master Pedro," influenced by Stravinsky's neoclassical music, and "The Clavusan Concerto," for which the harpsichordist Wanda Landowska commissioned a concerto from Falla. He composed the "Concerto de Clavusan," and was exiled to Argentina in 1939 because of the Spanish Civil War; he died in Córdoba in 1946.
