This is a collection of piano works by Tailleferre, Auric, and Duret, three of the six French composers whose works are relatively rarely heard. Although their styles are diverse, they all have their own unique styles: Tailleferre's virtuosic "Pastorale" and "Partita," the dreamy "Romance," Auric's quasi-classical "Sonatina," the concise "Three Pastorales," and Duret's "Three Preludes," which shows an affinity with the New Vienna School of Music, At the heart of the music is the music of Parisian cafes, jazz, vaudeville shows, folklore, and circus music, all of which were idealized by the French sextet. Bulgarian pianist Biliana Tsinklikova has previously released on the paladino music label the little-known masterpieces of Louise Falank (pmr0088) and Stefan Heller (pmr0065), and her efforts have attracted attention from critics and researchers alike.
