Description:
A deep prayer for eternal peace that is irradiated from the depths of the spirit. A completely new "requiem" dedicated to the age of chaos by Arnoncourt and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra! In the concert with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra held just after his 75th birthday (December 6, 2004), Arnoncourt performed his masterpiece of religious music, "Requiem" written by Verdi, the famous Italian opera composer. The concert featured "Requiem" (Mass for the Dead), a masterpiece of religious music written by Verdi, the famous Italian opera composer. This is Arnoncourt's second Verdi recording, following his 2001 recording of "Aida" (TELDEC), and his first performance of this work at the 2001 Summer Styriarte Festival in Graz with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir. This was Arnoncourt's fully-fledged concert with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for the recording of "Ver lek".The Arnoncourt-Schönberg Chorus, who know Arnoncourt's music inside and out, and the fine singing of Eva May, Bernarda Fink, Michael Schade, and Ildebrandt D'Arcangelo, all of whom are in their prime at the moment, have created an interpretation of this famous work that has never been heard before. The superb harmonies of the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, who are well versed in Arnoncourt's music, create an interpretation of this famous work that has never been heard before. Journalists who actually saw this performance at the concert commented, "Arnoncourt succeeded in drawing out the dramatic nature of this work with a different sense of reality by thoroughly eliminating the dramatic elements of the work. It is a formidable piece of music that cannot be dismissed half-heartedly" (Minoru Okamoto), and "It is a stoic and highly spiritual performance, devoid of any pretense. It is a very stoic and spiritual performance that is devoid of any pretense. It is a severe music that forces you to straighten yourself up when you listen to it. It is obvious at a glance that this is an interpretation in line with the original purpose of "music for the dead"" (Mutsumi Yamazaki), and it became a big topic of conversation in Vienna.Unlike the usual performance, the intermission is taken after the "Day of Wrath" as it was done before Verdi's death, and after the intermission, the arrangement of each voice part of the chorus is changed to create a sound suitable for the double four-part chorus in the latter half of the "Sanctus", and in the lower brass part, the composer's intention "to blend the sound with that of trombones The bass brass part is filled with Arnoncourt's typical attention to detail, such as the use of a bass trombone with valves instead of a tuba, respecting the composer's wish to "fuse the sound with the trombone" (of course, the strings are arranged in opposite directions). The soloist refrains from portamento except in passages specified by the composer, and the instructions, which are usually ignored, to have four sing each part of the chorus, which is part of the chorus parts, are also adhered to. The masterful recording that perfectly captures the beautiful sound of the "Golden Hall" was made by Teldex Studios, which has been recording Arnoncourt since the Teldec era, and perfectly captures the beautiful acoustics of the Musikvereinsaal in Vienna and the vast dynamic range of the performance.
