[Sony Classical Opera Series] "The Gwarani Man," a masterpiece by 19th century Brazilian opera composer Gomes, is an undiscovered masterpiece of the Romantic era. Trained by his musician father and accompanied by his brother, a talented conductor, he began his musical career at the age of 28 at the Milan Conservatory under the patronage of then Emperor Don Pedro II. At the age of 28, he studied at the Conservatory in Milan under the patronage of Emperor Don Pedro II. His works, which combined Brazilian themes with the style of Italian opera, were very popular in Europe at the time. This performance features superb singing by Domingo, Villarroel, and Carlos Alvarez, and an enthusiastic performance by the Orchestre Bonn-Beethovenhalle. *Lyrics are not included in the booklet.
