The monumental concert that thrills Viennese audiences every year! Along with the New Year's Concert, the "Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert" is one of the Vienna Philharmonic's most famous events and has become an established tradition of early summer in Vienna since its inception in 2004. The open-air concert, held at Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is free of charge and open to 100,000 music fans, and is broadcast live (or recorded) to more than 60 countries around the world. The concert has featured a distinguished lineup of conductors, including Gergiev, Dudamel, Barenboim, Welser-Möst, Maazel, Eschenbach, Mehta, and others, as well as pianists Lang Lang and Buchbinder.Sony Classical has been releasing these "Summer Night Concerts" since 2013, and this year, 2016, the fourth edition of the series, features Semyon Bishkov. Bishkov has been actively performing French music with the Orchestre de Paris since the beginning of his career. By searching for exquisite color transitions and gorgeous tones, Bishkov has been performing French music with great charm. This time, I am looking forward to seeing how he will handle the unique sound of the Vienna Philharmonic, a wonderful orchestra. In the Poulenc concerto, the Lavec sisters (Marielle Lavec is also Bishkov's wife) will be the soloists, and we can look forward to a lively and beautiful performance. Sony Music
