In late 2015, the 35th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's fifth album, "The River," the first No. 1 hit in the U.S. released in 1980, will be celebrated with a powerful box set! The River" was a huge hit with the classic song "Hungry Heart" and is a particularly popular 2-disc epic in Japan. After 35 years, "The River" is now being released as a 7-disc box set with DVD, "The River Box - THE TIES THAT BIND: THE RIVER COLLECTION". 52 songs on 4 CDs and 4 hours of never-before-seen footage on the DVD. The CD portion includes the original 2-CD album "The River", the previously unreleased album "The River: The Single Album", and "The River Outtakes", a collection of previously unreleased studio recordings from 1979-80.The video portion of the release will include "The Ties That Bind," a newly shot 60-minute documentary about the making of the band, featuring the bosses, members, and others involved, as well as two hours and 40 minutes of previously unreleased live footage from the 1980 Tempe, Arizona show and rare, long-rumored but never released tour and rehearsal footage. The album will also include 200 never-before-seen photos and notes from the tour. The box set will be released in a luxury boxed set with a coffee table book containing 200 never-before-seen photos, memorabilia, and an essay written by critic Mikal Gilmore.
