The first new work in two years by world-renowned pianist Hiromi Uehara is under the name of her new project, "Hiromi Uehara The Piano Quintet. This ambitious composition, consisting of piano and string quartet, was first performed as part of the "Save Live Music" series at Blue Note Tokyo (Dec. 28, 2020 - Jan. 4, 2021), where it received rave reviews from the packed audience. The album includes "Silver Lining Suite," a suite of four parts written during the period of restraint from the 2020 Corona disaster, as well as music from his social networking project "One Minute Portrait," and past original compositions newly arranged for this project. The string quartet led by Tatsuro Nishie, concert master of the New Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, performs with a fresh sound that is sometimes delicate and sometimes dynamic, and is different from her previous works.
