Butcher Brown, a five-piece band based in Richmond, Virginia, that predicts the future of jazz hip-hop with its mix of songs, beats, rhymes, and grooves, finally makes its major label debut! This is the band's eighth album, and is a fusion of contemporary hip-hop, 70's fusion, 60's jazz and funk, and even echoes of Southern rock and marching band music. The result is a powerful and original work that crosses genres, generations, ethnicities, and regional boundaries. Many of the songs were created on tour during the busy last two years of sharing the stage with jazz, funk, and jam band favorites such as Kamasi Washington, Galactic, The Turquazes, and Lettuce." We toured very much from 2017 through most of 2019.We were working on a lot of this material, working every night like an open rehearsal, developing setlists and sharpening these songs until they felt natural going into the studio." commented drummer Cory Fonville.
