Hot Chip, an electro-pop band popular for its danceable sound and addictive, catchy melodies, has released its eighth studio album, "Freakout/Release. The album was produced and recorded at a new studio [Relax & Enjoy] that member Al Doyle built in East London before the pandemic and during the first year. The sessions there were essential to establishing a lively band sound and were the perfect environment for the band to come together and start working from scratch for the first time since the tour of the previous album "A Bath Full Of Ecstasy" in 2019. In terms of lyrics, "Freakout/Release" expresses darker emotions than their previous work, ranging from the personal to the political and describing the ways in which people survive in the face of unmovable hardship.Throughout their 18-year career, Hot Chip has rubbed shoulders with such greats as the Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode, bridging the gap between pop and dance music with a number of impactful works that shake the listener's body and touch the heart. The LP will include the bonus track "The Most Painful Game".
