The complete symphonic works, released between 2016 and 2019, have been acclaimed by major media in various countries, including Record Arts magazine, Gramophone magazine, and BBC Music Magazine, and are establishing themselves as the new definitive recordings of the 21st century, followed by a series of recordings in the Vaughan Williams series, including "The Masque "Job"", which won the 2024 Gramophone Award (in the orchestral category). (The new recordings by André Manze and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO), of which Manze is principal guest conductor, are the latest in a series of Vaughan Williams releases that have built up an outstanding reputation, including the complete symphonies, which have been acclaimed by Gramophone Magazine, BBC Music Magazine, and other major media, and which have established themselves as the new definitive recordings of the 21st century. Manze, who has also been appointed principal guest conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra since September 2024, and the RLPO next turned to works by Butterworth and Holst, two English composers who were closely associated with Vaughan Williams. Like Vaughan Williams, these two composers actively incorporated folk songs into their own music, and their major orchestral works will lead us further into the profound world of British music.
