The album features the string quartets No. 15 and No. 1, as well as numerous songs in string quartet versions arranged by Sandy van Duke. The Signum Quartet is a talented string quartet that has studied with the Alban Berg Quartet, Artemis Quartet, and Melos Quartet, and has won numerous prizes at international competitions. Their recordings have received high acclaim for their wide-ranging repertoire, which includes works by Bartók, Berg, Schnittke, Ravel, Debussy, Suk, and Dvořák. This recording of Schubert is one of the group's most cherished composers, and offers the finest Schubert played by an exquisite ensemble. The string quartet versions of the songs are also excellent and bring out new charms in each work.
