World premiere recording! The 100th anniversary of the death of Hans Sommer, the genius of Romanticism. Songs with orchestral accompaniment sung by the best singers of our time! The Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Guglielmo Garcia Calvo, has recorded the orchestral works by Hans Zommer (1837-1922), featuring Mojca Ertmann, Anke Fondung, Mauro Peter, and Benjamin Apple as soloists. With the exception of "Wandering Nocturne II," this is the world premiere recording of all the pieces in their orchestral accompaniment versions. German composer Hans Zommer had an unusual career as a musician: he studied mathematics, later became a professor of physics, and served as president of a technical university. In Leipzig, he belonged to a circle that included Brahms, Schumann, Joachim, and others, and he steadily developed his skills as a composer, so much so that Zommer's works were highly praised by Richard Strauss. His works are mainly vocal pieces, such as songs and operas, but because of his unusual career and the fact that his scores were rarely published, Zommer's works did not see the light of day for a long time.In recent years, his works have been re-evaluated, and this year (2022), the 100th anniversary of his death, a rich album of his works will be released. The greatest appeal of Zommer's songs is their colorful orchestration and dramatic music, which combines poems by Goethe and other composers with beautiful melodies and folk songs typical of the Romantic period.
