Canadian-born young conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin made his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007 with a performance of Dvořák's Sixth Symphony, and the following year he quickly became the orchestra's principal guest conductor. He has maintained a good relationship with the Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra since then. The Dvorak was performed in 2009 and 2016, with the Sixth being his "debut" in this important repertoire, and in this new recording, he gives a flowing performance with crisp rhythms and plenty of rich string sound. The final movement, the roar of the brass, is also superb. This performance was highly praised by the British music website "Bachtrack. The Seventh is a symphony of such richness that Dvořák himself said, "I changed my style and made it into a full-fledged work. In addition to the tense first movement and beautiful second movement, Segan sings the third movement, which is considered Slavic in nature, in a relaxed manner, raising expectations for the dramatic final movement.
