Chet Baker Quartet, 1979 performance at the very peak of its maturity, recorded at VARA Studios, Holland, previously unreleased! The live performance is captured in high quality stereo broadcast sound. Previously unreleased recordings of two studio sessions by popular trumpet and vocal icon Chet Baker, recorded in April and November 1979 at VARA Studio Sessions in Hilversum, Holland. This is a stereo broadcast of the radio program "Nine O'Clock Jazz" on KRO (Catholic Radio Broadcasting) recorded at "VARA Studio Sessions" in Hilversum, Holland in April and November 1979. Baker's trumpet and vocals can be heard to their heart's content in this quartet formation led by Baker. Both sessions were originally produced by performer Edwin Rutten. This is the first time that these recordings have been officially released on the Jazz Detective label, produced by Zev Feldman and Frank Jochemsen, who have been contracted to discover masterpieces on the Jazz Detective label.In April 1979, Zev Feldman, who was doing his best to contribute to Chet's legacy with "Live in Paris," released on Elemental in 2022, was fortunate enough to stumble upon this recording while searching for other previously unreleased recordings. The November session featured pianist The November session featured pianist Frans Elsen, bassist Victor Kaihatu, and drummer Eric Ineke. The album features a total of 11 songs, mostly familiar standards. The trumpet-oriented numbers are in fine form, but "Candy" and "My Idea," featuring Chet's vocals, are the highlights of the album and must-listen items. Includes a booklet with a complete translation of the original English liner notes.Photographs by Verrill Auckland, Jean-Pierre Leroy, Christian Rose, and others. Liner notes by Dutch journalist Jeroen de Falk and essays by Zev Feldman, Jochemsen, and others. Also included are interviews with Baker's bandmates Phil Markoutsis, Jean-Louis Rasinfos, Eric Ineke, trumpeter Randy Brecker, Enrico Rava, and pianist Enrico Pieranunzi. owned by KRO Radio. High-quality recordings of the original recordings transferred from open reel are also featured!
