György Vaszej and the Orfeo Orchestra & Purcell Choir. UnOpera pour trois rois" (Opera for Three Kings), a joint production of the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and the Orfeo Music Foundation, has been dramatically performed inside and outside the Palace of Versailles for a century and a half, from Louis XIV to Louis XVI. This work is made from operas by various composers of the period. From masterpieces by Lully, Rameau, Gluck, and others to unknown works (including unpublished fragments) by Detouche, Mondonville, Royer, Dauvergne, and others, this program will present the enchanting operas that decorated the Palace of Versailles, sung and performed by world-class masters of ancient music.
