Harry van der Kamp and Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, the proud specialists of the Netherlands, recorded the complete vocal works of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) with Glossa in the 2000's. The complete vocal works of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) are recorded on this disc. The three works, which have been released as the Secular Vocal Works (GCD922401), Canzio sacra (GCD922406), and Complete Psalm Songs (GCD922407), are now released as a 17-CD complete works box set to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Sweelinck's death! Sweelinck's diverse secular vocal works, known as the master of the North German organ music school, the "Canzio sacra collection" published in 1619 in the Catholic city of Antwerp amid the rise of Calvinism that replaced Catholicism, and his aim to put music to all 150 Psalms of Song, The Psalter Songs, a masterpiece representative of the Netherlandish school of music, which was composed over the course of its lifetime. This is a rare box set of monumental recordings that have been highly acclaimed not only for their excellent performances, but also for their quality as new materials for Sweelinck research and as works of art.
