Contralto & conductor Nathalie Stutzman's first release on the Erato label from Deutsche Grammophon. This release focuses on Handel's operatic arias for alto, featuring arias from Handel's own favorite operatic works, but rarely sung alone apart from the complete works. This is a unique and ambitious concept album that sheds light on characters and arias that have received little attention until now. Contralto & conductor Stutzman's new recording is a transfer from Gramophone to the Elate label. Ranked among the most outstanding musicians of our time, she has built her career on two parallel activities: contralto and orchestral conductor. She continues to work regularly with the world's great conductors and orchestras, including Rattle & the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris, and the London Symphony Orchestra.In 2009, Stutzman founded the chamber orchestra Orfeo 55, which frequently tours and records with both baroque and contemporary instruments. The orchestra's repertoire reflects Nathalie's own musicality and includes Baroque music as well as 20th century works by R. Strauss, Schoenberg, and others. Warner Music Japan
