Arranged by two master conductors of the 20th century, Smetana and Beethoven! George Sell and Felix Weingartner, two of the most famous conductors of the 20th century, wanted to perform their favorite non-orchestral works from the podium and bring them to a wider audience. Sell, who spent many years in Prague and had a special attachment to Czech music, arranged Smetana's "From My Life," while Weingartner, who made the first commercial recording of Beethoven's complete symphonies, arranged Beethoven's "Hammerklavier" for orchestra. If you have seen the biographical film "The Maestro," about Leonard Bernstein, one of the most famous conductors of the 20th century, you have probably seen or heard "The Orchestra Now. This is the very orchestra that appears in the Tanglewood Music Festival scene in the film. The Orchestra Now was founded by graduate-level conductors, educators, and musicians in and around New York City, and is made up of vibrant young musicians from around the world.Together with Jewish-American conductor Leon Botstein, he is actively engaged in promoting unknown works.
