Apollo's Fire is a period orchestra from Cleveland, USA, founded by Janet Sorrell, who studied with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam, Roger Norrington and Leonard Bernstein in the US. The orchestra, which has been the center of attention in the American classical music world, celebrates its 30th anniversary with a sold-out concert tour in Europe and a CD release that has made a splash on the Billboard charts and won a Grammy Award.The first of four releases to commemorate the 30th anniversary is (surprisingly?) Apollo's Fire's first recording of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons"! Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," the first recording for Apollo's Fire! The soloist is the Spanish-born violinist Francisco Frana, who presents a passionate "Four Seasons" in which graceful solos, wildly powerful ensembles, and fiery virtuosity collide. Francisco Frana is a promising artist who has won four international competitions, including the Soji Angel Violin Competition, and has been acclaimed as a "great talent" by Gustavo Dudamel and a "rising star" by BBC Music Magazine.
