The Salzburg Festival celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2020 with a performance of the iconic work "Jedermann" at the Corona Disaster. Although the Salzburg Festival was threatened by a worldwide pandemic, it was held with a shortened program. The program that had to be performed in this memorable year was the play "Jedermann" by Hofmannstahl. Hofmannsthal's play "Jedermann" is an essential part of the Salzburg Festival, a 15th century English sermon "Everyman" adapted into German by Hofmannsthal, a founding member of the Salzburg Festival, and directed by Max Reinhardt on August 22, 1920. The Salzburg Festival began on August 22, 1920, when Max Reinhardt staged the piece. On August 22, 2020, exactly 100 years to the day, "Jedermann" will be performed for the 726th time at the Festival's Grand Theater. As the subtitle suggests, the play is about a wealthy man who is possessed by the Grim Reaper. Jäderman is suddenly told that he is going to die.He asks his friends to accompany him, but they are not taken seriously, and eventually, through the "good deeds" of a slender female figure and the "faith" of his sister, Jäderman prays and is led quietly to his "death" with good deeds, faith, and angels protecting him against the devil.
