Christian Thielemann, who assumed the position of principal conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden in August 2012, will release the complete Brahms symphonies, following his highly acclaimed Beethoven symphony cycle (KKC9015 on Blu-ray). Immediately after his appointment, Thielemann led the Staatskapelle Dresden to Japan in October 2012. This video contains Symphonies Nos. 1 and 3 recorded at NHK Hall during his visit to Japan, and Nos. 2 and 4 recorded at the Semperoper in 2013. Thielemann is a young master of German orthodoxy with high expectations from the orchestra.Thielemann has performed with the Staatskapelle Dresden since before his official appointment, and the music produced by their good relationship has already been proven. The 2012 concert in Japan recorded here was another memorable performance for Japanese music fans, as the synergy of the orchestra's sound and Thielemann's music-making resulted in a superb performance.
