In 2012, "Ring of the Nibelung" was performed at the Colon Theater, a long-established opera house in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although there had been talk before Wagner's death of making it possible to perform "Ring" in a single day, it was never thought to be possible. For this production at the Colon Theatre, Colt Garben (known in Japan as Cord Garben), who also worked as a producer for DG, succeeded in compressing the work by about half, to a net length of 6.5 hours, allowing the four parts to be performed in a single day with a common cast. Topic #2 is the staging. Katharina Wagner was originally scheduled to direct this production, but she returned to Japan after giving up on the South American style of progress. The production was hastily entrusted to Valentina Carrasco, a member of the Spanish butoh troupe La Fra dels Baus.La Fra dels Baus was involved in the production of "The Ring of the Ring" in Valencia, so she was familiar with it. Carrasco appropriated the stage set but reworked the production itself from a completely different perspective, creating a play that addresses the darker side of modern Argentina.
