Colin Currie's label, Colin Currie Records, has launched! The first release is "Drumming", the perfection that astonished the world! Reich calls it "the best recording ever made"! World-renowned percussionist Colin Currie, who is also recognized by Reich, has launched his own label. The name of the label is Colin Currie Records. The first release is "Drumming," one of Reich's most popular and epic compositions, which wowed Japan during a concert in December 2012! It was recorded by "Colin Currie Group" and "Synergy Vocals," the same group that performed in Japan in December 2012. The Colin Currie Group is an ensemble formed by the BBC Proms in 2006 to perform "Drumming" after Currie was asked to organize an event to celebrate Reich's 70th birthday. This new recording, which Reich described as "one of the best recordings ever made," is quite remarkable. Synergy Vocals is another vocal ensemble that has earned Reich's trust. This unique ensemble, primarily for works to be amplified, is highly acclaimed not only for its beautiful harmonies, but also for its unmatched rhythmic precision.Drumming" was composed in 1971 and is performed by nine percussionists, two singers, and a piccolo player. Divided into four parts, the first part is dominated by the bongos, the second by the marimba, the third by the glockenspiel, and the fourth by all the players. The fourth part is the climax of the piece, with all the players working together. The rhythmic formulas are quite simple, but the new sound world that is created when they are blended together is overwhelming no matter how many times one hears it. We hope you will enjoy the unique power created by the virtuosity of the Colin Currie Group and Synergy Vocals and their unparalleled rhythmic precision. ＜Born in Edinburgh in 1976, he was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist Award in 2000. His overwhelming percussionism has captivated the world.He has performed as soloist with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as in recital and chamber music. In addition, he has premiered works by Reich, Carter, Andriessen, MacMillan, Rautavaara, Aho, and Turnage. He has released many CDs, including a CD of Oliver Nassen's works with Emaar and Bartók's Sonata for two pianos and percussion (with Guy and Tiberghian), and has now launched his own label.
