Hardy's fifth appearance at the historic Fenice: 2025 New Year's Concert Live Opened in 1792, La Fenice Opera House in Venice is a prestigious theater deeply engraved in the history of Italian opera. Five important works by Verdi, Ernani, Attila, Rigoletto, La Traviata, and Simon Boccanegra, premiered here, and its presence stands out among Italian theaters. This theater has endured repeated fires, yet has risen from the ashes each time. Its name, "La Fenice" (The Phoenix), derives from the legendary Arabian bird said to be reborn from its ashes once every 500 years, symbolizing the theater's journey. The first fire occurred in December 1836, and the theater was rebuilt the following year, ushering in a golden age. The second fire struck in January 1996. Suffering devastating damage, its reconstruction required eight long years. The reopening performance, conducted by Riccardo Muti, took place in December 2003. Then, on New Year's Day 2004, Lorin Maazel took the podium to conduct the New Year's Concert, celebrating its revival.Since then, renowned conductors such as Kurt Masur, Kazushi Ono, John Elliott Gardiner, Georges Prêtre, and Myung-Whun Chung have graced the New Year's stage, and La Fenice continues to captivate music fans around the world. This year's performance will see Daniel Hardy return to the podium, with Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 providing a magnificent opening. This will be followed by Marianella Sicilia and Francesco Demuro performing famous arias by composers such as Rossini, Leoncavallo, Puccini, Wolf-Ferrari, Bizet, Gounod, and Verdi. In addition, footage of dancers from the Ater Barrett Dance Company, choreographed by Marcos Morau, dancing in iconic locations in Venice will be woven into the concert, adding color to the stage and vividly coloring the start of the new year.
