Jörg Demus (1928-2019), who died in 2019 at the age of 90, was known as one of the "Three Crows of Vienna" with Paul Badura-Skoda and Friedrich Gulda. Demus, who won the first prize at the Busoni International Piano Competition in 1956 and established his reputation as a world-class pianist, has reissued the complete works for solo piano by Debussy on the Italian Musica Viva label, which is known as one of the most famous recordings of his lifetime, along with the complete works of Schumann and a series of recordings by J.S. Bach, which have become synonymous with him. Among the Austrian pianists of his generation, Demus was the most passionate about Debussy's music.
