Frescobaldi, played by Bologna-born Italian keyboard prodigy Sergio Valtoro, was written as a sequel to the Ricercarae collection published in 1615, and the first volume of 12 Capriccios on Various Themes and Arias was published in Rome in 1624. The recording of "J.S. Bach: Golteberg Variations" (TCSS 1707) was the slowest performance of its time and attracted much attention. The obbligato parts, such as Capriccio No. 10, are also noteworthy, as Valtoro sings them with great gusto. Tokyo M-Plus
