Combining a "violin" made in Paris in 1865 by Giuseppe Scarampella with gut strings and a "bow" made in the early 19th century by John Dodd, a renowned bowmaker of the time, he performed Paganini's "24 Caprices" with a performance time of over 100 minutes, a shocking feat! Italian violinist Roberto Noferini, who has been performing Paganini's "24 Caprices" for violin and guitar since it was recorded in 2013 to great acclaim! For this recording of Paganini's "Works for Violin and Guitar," the same combination of instruments, strings, and bows as for the "24 Caprices" was used again, with a guitar made by Marco Maguolo, a contemporary Italian master craftsman, and a gaffer from Aquila Corde Armoniche (Italy). Noferini was paired with Donato D'Antonio, a talented Italian guitarist who uses a combination of guitars made by Marco Maguolo, a contemporary Italian master craftsman, and gut strings from Aquila Corde Armoniche (Aquila Corde).The combination of Noferini and D'Antonio's performance with HIP (Historically Informed Performance) and period instruments skillfully expresses the passion born between Paganini and these two instruments, the violin and the guitar.
