This is the eleventh volume in the highly acclaimed series tracing the organ tradition in northern Germany. Once again, the SACD Hybrid disc allows us to truly enjoy the full, rich organ sounds of Flamme. The names of the composers on this disc are almost unheard of today. Among them, the names of the Brunschweig composers, the Störnk father and son, are barely known. However, there is no doubt that they passed on the "German musical tradition" to the next generation, while incorporating influences from other countries. Although they were overshadowed by Buxtehude and others who were active at the time, they wrote wonderful music. We also applaud Flamme's passion in painstakingly collecting works that have fallen by the wayside in the course of history. Naxos Japan
