Description:
American avant-garde composer Antheil. His "Ballet Mechanique," released in 1926, caused a stir of controversy, and his progressive style influenced even faraway Japan. After 1930, however, he gradually began to take a more traditional approach, and from the 1940s onward, he dabbled in film music, his style gradually receding from the times, and in his later years, he began to work on music closer to late Romanticism, a fact that may have made it difficult to evaluate him. The opera "Brothers" was composed in 1954, and was one of three one-act operas. The story of "Cain and Abel" was first performed to great acclaim at the time of its premiere, but its popularity did not last long, and it has since been forgotten. Will the new European recording rekindle its popularity? In many ways, this is an interesting album. Naxos Japan
