Description:
The seventh volume of Satie: The Complete Piano Works by Schleiermacher! Includes two ballet piecesThis is the seventh volume of the "Satie: Complete Piano Works" by Satie specialist Steffen Schleiermacher. Schleiermacher was born in Halle in 1960 and is a composer himself, specializing in contemporary music, including works by John Cage. This time, the recording focuses on Satie's stage works such as "Mercure" and "Today is a Holiday" from her later years. Today's performance was premiered at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris on November 29, 1924. It is a ballet in two acts with a libretto by Francis Bikavia, choreography by Jean Borlant, and music by Eric Satie, and a film "Interval" by René Clair, a master of French cinema, was shown between the acts. The performance was a quirky showcase for Satie's unorthodox style. (In fact, the first two days of the premiere were truly cancelled due to a dancer's sudden illness.) In this film, "Interlude," Satie herself appears in addition to composing the music. However, he fell ill after the premiere and died of cirrhosis of the liver on July 1, 1925, making "Today's Rest" his last work. Mercure" was written about half a year before "Today's Rest". It was premiered at the "Soirée de Paris" organized by Count Etienne de Beaumont. Seven years earlier, Satie had collaborated with Picasso on "Pallade," and here they worked together again on this work. Like "Pallade," the premiere was met with a mixed reception, but in 1927 it was performed again by the Ballets Russes, which was considered a rival at the time, and is said to be one of the few works that Diaghilev recognized. Schleiermacher has recorded the symphonic interlude music and a partial performance of the Cinema-Ballet "Today's Rest" between the acts of "Today's Rest". The world as a piano version is captured in one album. King International
