Brahms's Influence on Reger Reger was inspired by the sonatas of Brahms's last years to compose three sonatas for clarinet. All of these works are strongly influenced by Brahms and draw deep emotion from the clarinet. Oberleigner, clarinet, studied at the Lübeck Conservatory with Sabine Meyer and others. He has been a clarinetist with the Cologne Gürzenich Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Super World Orchestra, and is currently principal clarinetist of the Staatskapelle Dresden.
