Shostakovich's highbrother. A collection of Tishchenko's piano sonatas! Boris Tishchenko, who studied composition with Shostakovich and Ustvolskaya at the Leningrad Conservatory, was a composer of the former Soviet Union who left behind a vast body of works during his lifetime, including 11 piano sonatas and 9 symphonies. The Italian pianist Andrea Carcano has selected three of Tishchenko's sonatas for this recording: No. 4, No. 8, and No. 10. No. 4, composed in 1972 and dedicated not to a specific person but to her favorite city, Prague; No. 8, composed in a neoclassical style and featuring a melody that seems to have been taken from the music of her teacher, Shostakovich; and No. 10, composed in 1972 and dedicated to the city of Prague, which was her favorite city; and No. 11, composed in the same style as the "I found it! and "Eu," which means "I found it!" or "I know it!" (Eureka) was composed in 1997, and is said to be a reworking of "Suite No. 1, Op. 4," which was composed 40 years earlier. Andrea Carcano, who plays Tishchenko's piano sonata, is a talented pianist under the tutelage of Italian master Bruno Canino.She has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and Severance Hall in Cleveland, and is expanding her activities with her Russian debut in 2019. She has also recorded mainly for Italian labels and has been teaching at the prestigious Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan since 2019. Tokyo M-Plus
